Red Lentil Soup

    1 1/3 cup Reis red lentils

    1 medium onion diced

    1 garlic clove, minced

    1 dried clove

    2 Tbsp Muratbey butter

    1 Tbsp. Ipek wheat flour

    6-7 cups water or broth

    salt

    ¼ tsp Botany cumin powder

    1 tsp Botany Maras pepper

In a large bowl put the lentils in cold water and wash whisking, drain and repeat always with fresh water until the water comes clean, set the lentils aside to drain completely.

In the soup pot melt 1 Tbsp of butter and saute the diced onion until soft, add the minced garlic, lentils and salt keep sauteing for another minute or two. Add the liquid and the clove, bring to a boil and let simmer on low heat until the lentils are cooked.

In a small pan brown the flour in the remaining butter, add the cumin and the pepper, add to the soup bowl stirring constantly. Simmer for another couple of minutes. Enjoy piping hot.
